Creativity...not here.

As Anna continues to say just the most hilarious things on a daily basis, I think, "that would be a great post title." Then, in my sheer exhaustion, I forget about it, a few days go by and I find myself posting without a creative title. Why does that seem to happen? And....how are the days going by so fast? Probably has a lot to do with the fact that sleep is so seldom, work is too long, and there is just so much to get done. Fact is, the poor kitchen floors haven't been moped in a week, and laundry and I have been having a stand off for the last 2 days. Even though....it's clean on a pile on the couch. I'm learning there are just some things that can wait and I would much rather have happy kids than laundry folded and put away neatly. I mean, really, do any of my other mommy friends really always put their laundry away? If you do, you are my hero and I just don't know how you find the energy to get it done!! I more will just admit that there is nothing more that I hate than laundry. Well, besides snakes but laundry is right up there.

So, for Anna, we were sitting on the couch having yet again another long conversation about going poo poo on the potty and how big girls get to use the toilet and wear panties and keep them clean. How neat it would be. We also chatted about how big girls who go on the potty can be named Anna and when that happens, can have some chocolate chips. The girl loves chocolate chips. She was very compliant, agreed it sounded like a plan. She said, "Oh mama, that is a great idea." "Have to go to the store and get some. Dada come too?" "Have to go to the store and get some chocolate." My girl, so smart, just has it all figured out. What amazed me is that she also wanted some milk to go with her chocolate. Attempted to get it out of the fridge at that very moment just to inform me that it was "too heavy, mama." Needless to say, it's all a great idea but just isn't quiet clicking yet. Just stories that I pray will become a reality in her timing, I just need to find the patience for that.

As for Daniel and Abby, chunky is a good word to describe them!! They were bone thin, not gaining weight, crappy nursers and I finally bit the bullet and started supplementing with formula (ack!) per Dr. Asarian's recommendation. So, daily they get a full breastmilk bottle followed by a couple ounces of formula. I haven't been so brave as to mix the two yet as I fear they wouldn't finish it and I would have to throw it out. Anyway, the battle came to, what kind of formula? Well, we went with Similac. I guess it's one of the best? It seems like just straight poison, honestly, it gags me to think of feeding it to them. Then, my mommy guilt kicks in because Anna never had a drop of it and I'm feeding it to these two. It does make my heart a little sad. On the other hand, I have to realize, it's mere survival for me. It's been so incredibly hard and exhausting to pump and nurse and pump and nurse and pump and nurse every hour or two hours just to keep my milk supply at it's maximum. Now, I could feed a small army pumping 4 oz every 3 hours off each side but it's just not enough for them still playing catch up with their wt. They insist on no less than 5 ounces and are happy with 6. Even if it's a full 6 oz breastmilk bottle which just blows my mind! That is a ton of milk for a little 11lb 12oz baby (Daniel). So, we feed them, they eat, and are now getting nice and fat. Rolly if you will. I actually had to go purchase some baby powder the other day because their little rolls are getting funky during the day with this Chico heat.

Now, per baby.....I'll start with my happy boy. Daniel is really just the sweetest, most amazing, perfect, happy baby around. He will smile, laugh, giggle and just about anyone, anytime, anywhere. Except when he's hungry. He will let you know when he's hungry. Feed him and he's good to go again. He does have moments where he just wants to be with you and he is my only baby that wants to cuddle and fall asleep on my chest when he's tired. Anna, never would and Abby would never dream of it. He abhors tummy time, loves to be held in a sitting position, loves to be held period, loves to be talked to and loves his toys on the activity mat right now. He loves grabbing the rings on one of them and has even found a way to pull one down and into his mouth lately. He is almost rolling over onto his tummy and will roll all the way onto his side, almost belly and suck on his hand for a good amount of time. He loves to be swaddled at night, doesn't mind a dirty diaper, and is just so mellow. He is such a love. I so enjoy him!!

As for Abby, she's been a little different baby. She started off awful. Cried a lot, all the time, hated to be held, didn't like to be put down, just wanted to nurse and nurse and nurse and nurse. Come to find she was starving because when she did nurse she wasn't getting enough because of her latch. Since we've started supplementing and she's gained wt. She really has turned around. She loves to be talked to and her little eyes just light up. She coos right back at you where as Daniel will grunt and smile. She loves just having a cooing conversation with you. Her little shoulders raise up as she smiles and coos away, I always say she talks with her shoulders. She still isn't too smily of a baby, very serious and unsure. She loves her mama and definately knows who I am. She still isn't too much of a cuddle fan but loves to be held facing out. She loves to ride in the Moby now while Peter or I have her and are needing to get things done. She will tolerate the activity mat for a little while but usually ends up grabbing Daniel by the ear or hand and won't let go. It doesn't tend to make him very happy so I usually end up breaking that up. Abby does love the bouncer, she currently has figured out how to spin her little parrot and monkey on it and loves to kick them with her feet to make them move as well. She also to watch videos with Anna. She could watch a TV for an hour if I let her, she loves just watching all the colors change and things move. I think of the 3, Abby is going to be my introverted, cautious baby. She loves to just observe and sit back and watch. She loves one on one time and loves her big sister who she is starting to recognize, today she just smiled and cooed away at Anna as she danced and twirled around the living room. I spend each day making sure I spend some quality time with her, having a daily cooing conversation, she just soaks it up and I love that. I love that she knows I'm her mama, I love that I can comfort her.

As for this tired mama, I just need to give myself a break. I refuse to proof read this post because 1. I am a nurse, not an english major and 2. It's 3 AM. I need to constantly remind myself that I can only do so much, that the house is only going to ever be so clean, that laundry doesn't fold itself, that I do work full time and have 3 kids 2 and under. I realize I don't shower everyday and have become ok with it. I no longer blow dry my hair or shave my legs everyday - ok or every other day.... I just don't want to become complacent. I don't want to forget myself and my needs in the mix. It's so hard in the hussle and busyness of the days and meeting the needs of my three little people and husband. I am however reminded daily of just how AMAZING my husband is. He has risen to the occasion of being a full time daddy. He is up with babies and feeding and bottles and doing dishes and washing laundry and mowing the lawn and bathing Anna and reading her stories and fixing cars and helping with dinners and going to the store. His willingness to jump in and help and work as a team has made going back to work for me easier than I imagined. Quite an amazing load off my shoulders and my love for him has grown that much more because of it.

Catching up.....

I have so much to catch up on! I have left the last year of my life to be filled in with the birth of our twins and watch my baby girl turn into a happy, curious, vivacious, stubborn, smart, wonderful little girl. Needless to say, I have been terrible at documenting the happenings of it all. I continue to say that I will begin blogging again, just to never get around to it. With Anna doing and saying so many new things and me just not being able to remember it all and chasing after the twins, I just don't have the time to write it all down. So, I will make it uncomplicated and just document the happenings of life when I get the chance.....

To start, Anna. She's now 2, completely not ready to be potty trained and has zero interest. So, I will wait and no make that whole issue a fight. Not worth it. I'm learning how to pick and choose my battles and that is just not one I want to fight. She says the funniest things these days. It's hard to remember sometimes that she is just 2. Her vocabulary is really just amazing. She says "biper" instead of diaper. I corrected her the other day attempting to get her to say diaper with a "D." I explained that D said "duh." She paused quietly, looked at me and gently said with a scowl, "no mama, I don't like that sound. Follow by biper." Some other favorite sayings that she says now include:

"What you thinkin about mama?"
"What's wrong?"
"Anna's ok (when she falls down)."

I put her down to sleep the other night and she grabbed my face and said, "No mama, don't go. What you thinkin about mama?" Really, such a cute moment I just want to remember forever. Another sweet moment was today when she woke up from her nap she gently kissed me on my cheek while I was still napping before work and said "I love you mama, night night." She is just so two at times and just so sweet at others.

More to come with twin updates and the happenings of life.......
